so i mentioned in my last entry that nev likes to push the button on her "radio" to get it to play music but i forgot to mention that sometimes she will shake her head back and forth as if she is trying to dance to the music.  then she gets a big smile on her face...it is so adorable!  she also will shake her head from side to side (as if she is saying no) a lot more now.  hmmm...i am trying to get her to learn to shake her head up and down instead...so that she learns "yes" instead of "no."  so far no luck! :)

nev and phoenix are becoming better friends.  nev has always liked phoenix and will chase her from room to room until phoenix finally "asks" to go outside.  it has always been phoenix who was weary of nev.  however, lately phoenix has been more patient with nev.  she will let nev pull her extra skin, grab her paws, and just sit next to each other for a moment.  phoenix will even come into the room that nev and i are playing in and lay close to us.  i think she is getting more comfortable with her "little sister" and isn't as jealous anymore.  she is learning to accept her new role in the family!  at this point she is pretty happy as long as she gets to go runs with nev and i and isn't left out!

i have had a few people inquire about her diet...so i will catch everyone up to speed.  she still is nursing about 3-5 times per day.  she also eats solid food...which is actually pureed food that i make.  it tends to be a little more thick and lumpy than the baby food you would buy at the store (depending on what i am pureeing) but she will mash it with her gums.  she has tried store bought food once when we were on a mini-vacation and i couldn't pack my homemade food.  she liked that too!  so far she hasn't met a food she hasn't liked.  so here is a rundown of her menu options...

fruits: pears, apples, peaches, cantaloupe, mango, papaya, blueberries, bananas

vegetables: sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, peas, green beans, spinach, yellow squash, zucchini squash, corn, broccoli, rutabaga, carrots, tomato (wait...is that a fruit?), avocado, butternut squash

others: quinoa (a whole grain), tofu, and some gerber graduate rice puffs and yogurt puffs, oatmeal and multigrain cereal (for babies)

nev turns 8 months old on saturday, september 20th...it is hard to believe!  babies are so amazing with the transformations they make in such a little time!
