new "skills"

the last few days nev has decided she really wants to feed herself.  usually i give her an extra spoon and she just plays with it.  however, the last two days she has fed herself with the spoon.  she will let me put some food on the spoon and then stick it into her mouth and suck it off.  she gets so excited and i can tell she is very proud of herself.  i am also a little crazy because i am clapping and being over-encouraging.  i have to find the right foods to let her practice this skill otherwise it ends up being a very messy adventure.  so far bananas, red lentils, and fish have worked out alright.  it also takes us a lot longer at mealtime too.

another new skill is that she will follow simple directions.  for example, i will ask to her say "hi" or "bye" or "wave" and she will wave to them.  she also responds when asked to play the "so-big" game.  and sometimes when i ask her a question she will respond by shaking her head "no."  she also anticipates certain situations and will say "uh-oh" right before she drops something...and then she continues to say it afterward too.  it is fun to see her responding and picking up on language.
