it has been a long time since i have written an entry...so this might be a little lengthy.
nev has had many exciting experiences within the last two weeks. it started with nev doing her first 5k. grandma marsha, grandpa cal, aunt stacey, uncle mark, joe, nev and i all walked in the "outrun the fbi" 5k to raise money against internet predators. it was a great day and the 6 of us were "team wabash." we all wore wabash shirts and nev wore a wabash cheerleading outfit...it was very cute! she got an "official" fbi badge at the race...her uncle rob (joe's brother/fbi agent) is sure to be proud!
she also spent an entire afternoon with aunt stacey and uncle mark a few weeks ago. she helped with the laundry, read books with uncle mark, and explore zibby's (the cat) tent! she liked crawling over the threshold between the concrete floor and wood floor too!
then she experienced her first ride in a shopping cart at trader joe's. she loved it and was making lots of friends in the store. i guess the days of a quick grocery trip are out now that she sits in the seat and socializes with people!
we just returned from a trip to indiana where nev traveled with grandma and grandpa black on the plane along with joe and me. we all went back for the wabash vs. depauw football game (and grandpa cal's birthday was sunday too). aunt stacey and uncle mark were there too and aunt beth, uncle rob, cousins mia and elle drove over for the excitement as well. she attended her first tailgate before the game and even got to eat there! grandpa tobey and grandma peggy organized the entire party and it was a big hit! she got to meet a lot of new people, including meghan, laura and greg carlson and eric verdin. nev left at half time with grandma peggy, aunt beth and her cousins since she slept during most of the first half and it was 35 degrees out. she did look awfully cute all bundled up in her warm clothes.
nev had thanksmus (thanksgiving and christmas) at grandma and grandpa herzog's house while we were in crawfordsville. she ripped the wrapping paper a bit but mia and elle had to help. she got some cool toys...thank you to everyone! she loves to play with mia and elle and they are still so good with her! nev will now imitate a lot of noises so she showed everyone how she likes to imitate laughing when others are laughing.
she also got to eat some good food for thanksmus. grandma peggy made beef tenderloin which nev LOVED (hmm...good taste!) and homemade applesauce...another big hit! thanks grandma peggy!
also while we were home we got to see my longtime friend, sarah james, her baby boy, cameron, and sarah's mom, cindy thompson. cameron is almost 4 months old now and is very cute! nev mastered 5 stairs at their house while cameron smiled and laughed at her while she showed off!
other than that, nev has been saying "a da" when she sees our dog, phoenix and sometimes when she sees other dogs. she is better at saying mama when i am with her and dada when joe is with her. she still gets confused though too!
she has been very attached to me lately and will not always let someone else hold her. i hope this phase passes soon but it is nice to know that she loves me and feels secure! she is also back to 3 naps during the day and usually 2 of them are fairly long. it is nice for me to get things done around the house but harder to go out and run errands!
i think that is it for now! :)
