nev experienced her very first halloween this past friday! the day started with a long walk with grandma marsha, grandpa cal, aunt stacey, mommy and cousin duncan. nev wore her costume on the walk and got to show it off to the other people out exercising on the canal. then that night she went to bed in her carseat with her costume on so that she could sleep (since her bedtime is at 6pm) until we brought her out to see the neighborhood kids trick-or-treat! she woke up at about the right time and was awake for about an hour (about 7:30-8:30pm). she loved seeing all the kids and wanted to grab in the candy dish too! she was squealing and talking up a storm! she was quite the entertainment! she looked very cute in her costume too. check out the "october photos" to see what she dressed up as!
nev had other events to attend this weekend too. she went to a "kegs and eggs" party at chris and becky nieto's house saturday morning and got to play with some other little girls while she was there. then she went and "helped" out at aunt stacey and uncle mark's garage sale on saturday too!
a few other tidbits that i keep forgetting to mention...she eats well with her fingers and sometimes will refuse to be fed with a spoon because she only wants finger foods. she can pick up food as small as a pea and was introduced to a vegan burger this week, as well as a regular hamburger. she also likes to play with her food and rub it all over her high chair tray.
she loves to bang her toys together and to bang her hands on tables, etc. when she is standing up. when standing up she will sometimes use her belly to balance herself. she will go from holding on to one table when standing and reach so that she can move over to another piece of furniture while still standing up. she still needs practice with this but she is making progress. she also likes to play the "drop the toy" game so that i can pick it up and she can drop it again. it is cute for awhile...
nev is very talkative too! she has her own little language and talks to herself a lot. it sounds at times like she is talking in sentences as she will pause and then start again. gibberish is definitely a talent of hers!
she has started going to the pool with me again for my swim practice at noon. now that she is so mobile i have to take a pack-n-play so that she can move around and stand up. she does pretty well but will get bored if i try to swim for over an hour. it helps when her little friend, luke (he is 2 years old), is sitting in his stroller waiting for his mommy to finish swimming too so they can entertain each other.
she and phoenix are even better friends. phoenix now will eat her own dinner and then wait for nev to eat for her "second" dinner of the night. they even kissed one day...it was a little gross but very cute! nev is definitely better at kissing (people not just dogs) and way better at waving now. she even helps me get her dressed now too by helping take her arms out of the sleeves and putting them it. however, she doesn't like to be laying down for long so getting her dressed is also a lot harder too!
