this will probably be the last post on this website as we are in the process of starting a family website (www.theherzogfamily.net)! email me for the password to access the new site ([email protected]) i'm a little behind in some of my journaling with nev so i'll attempt to provide an update.
earlier this month we were visited by grandma peggy and grandpa tobey. we had an excellent visit! nev walked almost 3 miles one day while the 3 of them walked to starbucks and then to the grocery store and back home via the canal. grandma peggy and grandpa tobey were impressed with her stamina and she never once complained! in fact, on the way home she was skipping! she also helped grandma peggy cook breakfast and helped grandpa tobey build a dora the explorer train! she was quite the talker (not a surprise) and filled them in on a lot of things about her life. she had a slumber party in her baby brother's room (before he arrived) and shared her room with her grandparents!
in other news, she continues to do well at school. she loves to swing and likes to point out that she can do it "all by myself." she knows how to pump her legs and can get herself going "high in the sky!" she has been learning about butterflies, gardening, and art! she weighs roughly 27.5 lbs. and looks very petite. she is strong though and can do push-ups (half-way), handstands against the wall, and likes to show off her muscles. sometimes she will say she has "hard or strong muscles." she continues to take one nap during the day (about 2-3 hours after lunchtime) and goes to bed around 8pm.
she has been taking dance class and will have a recital in june. she has been learning her routine at practice every week and is enjoying it. in addition, nev and joe will participate in the daddy/daughter dance at the recital. this will be our first recital but apparently the daddy/daughter dance is the highlight! i have seen part of the routine so far and it is absolutely adorable! nev is excited that she can do this with her daddy!
she was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her baby brother and often would ask when he was "going to come out?" prior to his arrival she shared her plan to read to him and sing to him (which she does daily).
the plan is that she will start preschool at our school district in august. her best friend, luci, is also planning to attend the same school provided both girls are accepted. we continue to enjoy the beautiful phoenix weather at this time of year and spend many evenings with the neighbors and their kids outside. the kids love to ride bikes, play tag, and ride in the kid version of the "cadillac escalade" (one of our neighbors has this).
