this past week grandparents herzog came in from indiana to spend some time with nev and celebrate her birthday a little early. i think they must have worn nev out because the day they left (they left in the morning)...she had two naps that were 2+ hours! yikes! obviously she was having so much fun that she didn't want to miss spending any time with them by sleeping!
they would walk to starbucks in the morning and grandpa tobey would share his banana bread with her. she also got to go for a nice long walk to the biltmore fashion park mall. grandma peggy cooked for her and fed her all the time! grandma peggy was impressed with how much she can eat (2 pieces of french toast, fruit, and applesauce all at one sitting)! she also got to blow bubbles with grandpa tobey and grandma peggy helped her open her very first "american girl" doll....which is a big deal! grandma peggy and grandpa tobey gave her the doll for her upcoming 1st birthday! nev immediately gave the doll a big kiss once she was out of the box!
they were also helpful because joe and i got to go to the phoenix suns vs. indiana pacers basketball game and out for dinner one night. yippee! date night!
next week she starts "school." grandma peggy got to see where she will be and witnessed how social nev is with other kids. when i set her down she went and joined a group of other kids and started playing. she didn't even look back. joe will drop her off on her first day and grandma marsha will pick her up due to my work schedule.
in addition to her fun with her indiana grandparents, she has started to say "duck" when she sees the ducks or when you ask her to repeat it. she is also saying "dog" too. both words aren't completely clear but pretty close. she is standing on her own now for a few seconds and walks while holding on to one of my fingers...so she is getting closer everyday!
joe and nev took a bike ride the other afternoon to the biltmore patio/bar to have some bonding time together. she played on the golf green and is getting used to it so he can teach her how to play golf in the future!
we are looking forward to her birthday party this weekend and having friends over. i can't wait to see her with her cake! i can't believe she is almost one year old! i can still picture the day i went into labor with her like it was yesterday!
